(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) -- SPOILER ALERT: If you're a fan of the AMC drama Breaking Bad, you need to buy yourself a copy of Friday’s Albuquerque Journal. You know, the edition with the Walter White obituary in it.
The former chemistry teacher turned meth kingpin may be a fictional character, but that didn't stop Los Lunas, N.M., Breaking Bad fan David Layman and other members of the Facebook group Unofficial Breaking Bad Fan Tour from purchasing the photo obit on page A-4 of Friday's newspaper.
The notice, which is accompanied by a photo of Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston as Walter White, begins, "White, Walter, aka 'Heisenberg', 52, of Albuquerque, died Sunday after a long battle with lung cancer, and a gunshot wound." The obit then briefly lists his accomplishments, including "found[ing] a meth manufacturing empire," and surviving family members. It ends with, "In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the drug abuse prevention charity of your choice. He will be greatly missed."
Breaking Bad is set in Albuquerque. Last Sunday's finale, in which White died after being shot, was seen by an estimated 10.3 million people.
